RAISE YOUR HAND

weThink is partnering with Project Tomorrow to launch an innovative program to help re-engage, re-energize, re-connect students with learning using popular team-based, video game environments.

This is so important that we cannot help but have a big goal. Here it is: we want to bring this program to 500 schools in the United States over the next 90 days. But we cannot do this alone. We need the help of everyone who cares about kids and their future. Will you join us? Will you Raise Your Hand?

Why Raise Your Hand?

The pandemic has had a significant impact on the academic achievement and mental health well-being of K-12 students across the entire country.  And those impacts continue every day with the ongoing trauma of uncertainty regarding school, economic security, and COVID-19 health concerns for these students and their families.

For too many kids, this crisis has resulted in severe feelings of disconnection, depression, and despair in addition to the extreme learning loss because of school closures.  The effects of this national crisis could negatively impact the future lives of millions of our best and brightest young minds.

We must do something. We have no choice. Please Raise Your Hand and join us!

Per Project Tomorrow research, students say that playing online and video games help them develop teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills. All these are key skills that students need to be successful in college and future jobs. Plus 62% of students say games should be part of any school experience today!

This innovative program leans into those realities by facilitating opportunities for students to learn future-ready skills through team-based gaming experiences through their school. Online from home during virtual learning or in a physical classroom, this process works to engage kids in learning collaboratively while at the same time breaking down those walls of isolation and disconnection.

Listen to what real kids say about what they learned through the weThink program at their school:

How Will This Work In The Fall?

After extensive research, Project Tomorrow and weThink have prioritized support for kids in six regions based upon the traumatic impact of COVID19 school closures and health/economic security concerns on kids in these regions:

• Chicago IL
• Houston TX
• Los Angeles CA
• Miami FL
• New York, NY
• Oakland CA

Project Tomorrow is currently identifying schools in these regions to host teams of students this fall.  Each team consists of between 3-6 students who compete against other teams at their school or teams at other schools playing the most popular video games. A wethink coach provides virtual support for the team. And the teams have access to a special curriculum that helps the students identify and nurture skills such as critical thinking, communications, collaboration, and creativity – all while playing the team-based games.

The math is simple. No calculus needed here. The more schools, cities and regions that are funded, the more kids who are positively impacted by this program. But it all starts with education allies and advocates for kids who are willing to Raise Their Hand to support 500 schools in 90 days.

I get it!  What do I do now?
